Locals besiege Dhaka police station over murder of minor
Angry locals besieged a police station in Dhaka today protesting failure to arrest the criminals responsible for killing a nine-year-old girl.
In demonstration, the locals set fire on the road adjacent to Bhatara Police Station and chanted slogans demanding immediate action this morning.
The victim, Farjana Akter Liza, daughter of car driver Faruk Hossain, was found stuffed in a plastic sack floating in a pond at Saidnagar area on Tuesday, a day after she went missing, Nazrul Islam, a sub-inspector of Bhatara Police Station, told The Daily Star.
Her hands were found tied up with and the body bore several injury marks, the police official said. Police so far failed to nab any criminals in this connection.
Deceased’s father Faruk told The Daily Star that his elder daughter Liza went to a stationery store 100 yards from the house on Monday and did not return since.
Angry locals staged a human chain in front of the police station demanding immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of those involved in the crime, SI Nazrul said.
About a hundred people besieged the police station and staged a demonstration in front of it which continued from 11:15am to 12:15pm, reports our correspondent.
