Little Junayed was abducted for realising ransom
The three youths arrested on charge of abduction of 14-month-old Junayed Hasan after killing a domestic help on Tuesday from Thanapara of Nilphamari municipality told police that they committed the crime for realising ransom.
During arrest of the three youths from Sreerampur village of Chandanpat union under Rangpur Sadar upazila on Thursday afternoon, Rangpur police also rescued Junayed, who was handed over to his foster parents Mirza Nur Mohammad Beg and Shirin Jahan in the evening.
The childless couple live with the adopted son at a rented house at Thanapara village of Nilphamari municipality.
The arrestees -- Rashedul, 20, Mukul Beg, 20, and Anwar Hossain, 27, were detained with the help of a village policeman when they along with the abducted child came to take shelter at the house of a distant relative.
The accused told police that they killed domestic help Sumi Akhtar, 15, as she could recognise them, tried to resist the abduction and threatened to expose their names to her master, said policemen at Nilphamari seeking anonymity.
The three arrestees also confessed to raping the girl, and looting money, ornaments and a mobile set from the house.
Rashedul and Mukul Beg, hailing from Mirganj Pathanpara village of Jaldhaka upazila, are also relatives of the abducted child's foster parents while Anwar Hossain hails from Tengonmari village.
Earlier they visited the house and followed movement of the couple who stayed away from home from 9:00am to 5:00pm daily on workdays for attending their offices.
