Listed criminal killed in Laxmipur 'gunfight'
An alleged criminal died after he got injured in a "gunfight" between two rival groups in Laxmipur Sadar upazila early today.
The dead is Ismail Hossain Khokon, 36, second-in-command of local criminals' group, "Didar Bahini", reports our Noakhali correspondent quoting Md Iqbal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Laxmipur Sadar Police Station.
Ismail was accused in several cases, including killing and rape, filed with the police station, he said.
A team of law enforcers found Ismail bullet-hit in his legs around 12:30am when they were patrolling in Kanthalia village of Digholia union of the upazila, said Md Zillur Rahman, a sub-inspector of the police station.
Police rushed him to Laxmipur Sadar Upazila.
Two hours later he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
