Gift a plant
Houseplants have been hailed from time immemorial based on the notion that a house is sure to thrive when it has a green inside. They work as natural air purifiers while keeping away common colds and help you think clearly with a refreshed mind. Perhaps due to noticing that purifying effect of indoor plants, experts on Feng Shui, Vastu, and Native American culture have all suggested a vast range of houseplants that are thought to bring love, prosperity, strength, and protection. So, giving a gift of a plant will not only mean that you are giving someone a long lasting gift that will grow as your relationship does, but also that you are wishing them a happy and prosperous life.
Plants as gifts are as versatile as it gets. As an avid patron of green, you can give them to anyone including friends, colleagues, employees, relatives, grandmas, acquaintances, and children. The significance of your gift will change with the receiver and the type of plant. Caring for a plant from early in life nurtures a sense of responsibility in the children. On the other hand, if you send a small and sturdy plant with a 'get well soon' card for a friend at the hospital, they will have an enjoyable and quietly growing company in their difficult times.
A variety of plants such as bamboos, money plants, cacti, and bonsais are already available in small ceramic or terracotta pots throughout the city. A new style of antique painted potted plants is also found in Aarong and different gifts and crafts stores.
Consider three lavenders hanging on mason jars for a person who has been looking for the perfect chandelier for their sitting area. Echeveria Elegans, commonly known as Mexican Roses which are flowerlike succulents, are excellent for adding elegance to any windowsill or workplace. A set of small herbs such as parsley, sage and rosemary on a colourful wooden box is perfect as a gift for budding chefs and green homemakers alike.
Even though leafy houseplants have been in the spotlight as gifts for years, you can have a look at the blooming ones as well. Moth orchids, Phalaenopsis, have serene white flowers that need no introduction. Hydrangeas, gardenias, and azalea angels can also be your choice of plants for their beautiful blooms and low maintenance.
While choosing a gift, always seek a plant that needs minimum care. Add a personal (and creative) note about the care of the plant so that your gift becomes truly everlasting.
