Away with the chapped lips
Lock the moisture in
Protect your lips from the harsh weather by using a lip balm. It will form a protective layer over your lips, go deep down your skin to hydrate and speed up the natural renewal process. Also, drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and avoid spicy food or citrus drinks to keep your skin irritation free.
No biting
When your lips are dry, there might be flaky bits sticking out which you may be tempted to pull at with your teeth. Do not fall for such temptations. Biting will expose your lips to germs, which will lead to even more chapped lips and worse sores.
Do not touch your lips
As we go about our day, our hands come in contact with many things carrying germs and bacteria. Avoid touching your lips or pulling the flaky bits of your lips with your fingers to protect yourself from infection and chapped lips.
Do not lick your lips
Adding a bit of saliva gives us a false impression of moisture while in reality, it makes our lips worse. The saliva evaporates fast taking with it whatever moisture your lips have left. So the next time your lips feel a little dry, use a good lip balm instead of licking your lips.
Keep away from the harshness
Do not let the rough weather get to your lips. Use a scarf to hide your lips from the strong winds, dirt and pollution.
The skin on our lips is very sensitive and so needs regular care. Always keep your lip balm around and use it on regular intervals when you stay outside for a long time. Act at the first signs of chapped lips. Also stay hydrated!
