AGE OF SATURN — OMAR CHOWDHURY AND DR SHAHIDUL ZAMAN
Date: February 9 - February 18
Venue: Daily Star-Bengal Arts Precinct, Farmgate, Dhaka
Bengal Foundation is very pleased to both support and present Age of Saturn, the first solo exhibition in Bangladesh by Australian-Bangladeshi artist Omar Chowdhury. Created in close collaboration with the political and economic historian Dr Shahidul Zaman, the show explores important questions of how one can experience, or re-experience history and one's own past.
Constructed through several years of dialogue and research, Chowdhury and Zaman deploy autobiography, narrative, and concept to create an ambitious and intricate survey of key moments and controversies in the history of Bengal. Working in a diverse range of media including film, text, sculpture, photography, electronics, installation, performance and action the artist and historian present a rich, alternative language of inquiry into how the past creates the present and the present can create the past.

COLOURS OF 13: A GROUP ART EXHIBITION
Date: February 9 to February 15
Time: 11am to 8pm
Venue: Zainul Gallery, Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka
For the batch of '89 - '90, of the Faculty of Fine Art, the memories of their university years are bittersweet. They were witness to the fall of the autocratic regime and the birth of a new set of values for the nation. Many years later, now in 2016, some of the old students of that time are reunited through their work at their alma mater.
Like most of her peers, Monidipa Dasgupta now sees the world differently. Her view from her home on the eighteenth floor of a high-rise inspires her to recreate images of this metropolis – the cityscape. For others the journey has been different yet equally mesmerising.
