Point of View -- Monthly Photography Contest

POV is about to launch a theme-based monthly online photography contest.
The contest theme for January 2014: "Eye". Submit your photographs via e-mail to povsubmission@gmail.com. The winner will receive his/her photograph printed and framed (18" by 24") along with a certificate of merit and will also gain free entry to any next Point of View Photography Exhibition in the future. Result will be published within February 10, 2014.

30th presentation of "Nupur Beje jai”

This is the 30th regular monthly performance by Shadhona at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Dance and Music Auditorium between 6.30pm and 8pm. Performances will be as follows: Rabindra-nritya by Amit Chowdhury, Medley of Rabindra-nritya by Akhi and her group, Kathak by Moonmoon Ahmed.

Made in Bangladesh, Dance Production

For her latest dance production titled “Made in Bangladesh” renowned German choreographer Helena Waldmann has come to Bangladesh to work with selected Kathak dancers. She is accompanied by dance critique Arnd Wesemann, musician Hans Narva and Indian choreographer Vikram Iyengar.
“Made in Bangladesh”, which is supposed to premiere in autumn 2014, tells the story of exploitation and emancipation, of discipline and resistance in the working environment of textile industry workers in Bangladesh.

'Young Goethe in love', Screening of German feature film

Young Goethe in love, is directed by Philipp Stölzl (2010, 100 min). This historical film is a fictionalised version of the early years of the poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and the events forming the basis of his novel, The Sorrows of Young Werther. After aspiring poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe fails his law exams, he's sent to a sleepy provincial court to reform. Instead, he falls for Lotte, a young woman who is promised to another man and the story continues.
