LS SUGGESTS

Summer must-haves

By Shifat Ara

The sweltering summer days have very made their presence felt in the lives of city dwellers with temperatures rising up to 42 degrees during the daytime, making moving around outdoors and under the sun a dreadful task.
Your body and skin demands extra care this season and we recommend that you equip yourself with these summer-friendly items that will help you stay fresh and healthy throughout the day.

Umbrella
Needless to say how the summer sun can rob you of your complexion, and at the same time the unexpected drizzles that leave you completely drenched -- the umbrella is a must-have this season. Grab a brightly coloured umbrella that is easy to spot, and stylish to carry -- polka dots, stripes, flowery patterns are summer trendy patterns and will save you from unwanted exhaustion.

Water bottle
Fill it with a flavoured drink, glucose, lemonade or just plain water. What is important is you stay hydrated this blazing summer. Drinking water will replenish and restore the water in the body that is lost by excessive sweating whist staying long hours outdoors.
You can find a variety of water bottles that come in different shapes and sizes at stores like Khazana, Shwapno, Meena Bazaar, Lavender and a number of other supermarket stores.

Sun screen and prickly heat powder
Over-exposure to the summer sun can lead to pre mature ageing, sunburn, wrinkling and skin cancer. Since staying completely indoors is not an option, what we strongly recommend is a sunscreen moisturiser with SPF 15 or higher which provides both UVA and UVB protection.

Wet tissue
If your plans are outdoor activities, a packet of wet tissue paper will make staying fresh a lot easier and help avoid a smudgy look. A light wipe before re-applying fresh makeup will give you a much better look than frequent touch-ups.

Deodorant
Summer equals to sweat, which equals to bad body odour. Carry a portable body spray of your choice to smell good all day long.

Sunglasses
Needless to say how stylish they look (if you get the right ones), sunglasses are a must-have to survive the scorching sun outside. Choose a pair of sunglasses with UV protection to save your eyes from the sun's harmful rays and the flying dust from tons of available options in stores in Bashundhara City and Elephant Road.
