Naveed's Comedy Club
Laughter is the cure to all illnesses and now it has been scientifically proven that forcing yourself to laugh for five minutes daily keeps the heart and the mind happy throughout the day. Well, it takes way fewer muscles to smile than to frown, right?

It is also an important tool for social change because it confronts real issues albeit in a light and exaggerated tone.

Naveed Mahbub is a Bangladeshi stand-up comedian, although by profession he is an electrical engineer. He began the art of stand-up comedy in 2005 in the US. To his credentials is “Best Male Comedian” at the 2007 Original Las Vegas Comedy Festival.

Bangladesh was in utter need of a comedy club where the sole purpose would be to laugh. With the daily struggles and challenges we face, Naveed attempts to sprinkle a bit of happiness and create a haven to relieve our stresses. Having lived in the United States for almost two decades, Naveed decided to follow his heart home to bring laughter to his own people.

Last Saturday he performed a set that had the audience in stitches, touching on subjects such as the DST fiasco, Dhaka traffic, etc.

He plans on performing weekly at Naveed's Comedy Club, situated at house # 13/1, road #12, Baridhara every Wednesday night from 8 pm, when he will also host an “open mike” night where the audience can put in their names to perform. There will also be a monthly show featuring a foreign comedian at various venues, with Hollywood's Bobby Collins set to perform on April 9 and 10 at Club Amazon.
