If it's patiala shalwars one season, it's fitted churidaars the next! But for men, fashion here seems to move at a much slower pace. The classic white panjabi is still a staple in every man's closet while the good old denims have retained their position throughout the years. Eid in the yesteryears meant milky white panjabis with streaks of subdued colours sparsely scattered here and there. The scenario is quite different now; it has changed for the better.

Eid this year has brought along fresh changes to the men's wardrobe. Fashion houses are no longer shy in experimenting with colours previously alleged to be outrageously inappropriate for a man's wardrobe. Orange, magenta, lime green and red have been splashed all over classy Panjabis to add a dash of vibrancy. Panjabis are shorter in length and tapered to flaunt the masculine figure well Artisti has some of the most likeable Panjabis this season so their outlets definitely deserve a visit before Eid. . Stripes, which are all the rage at the moment, have been presented in soothing colours like butter yellow, powder blue, peach and aqua. Smart sherwani-style collars have been teamed with comfy fabrics to add style and ease to the Eid morning hustle and bustle at the Namaz grounds. Expect prices to be a bit higher on the price scale, for Artisti is no ordinary brand name!

Aarong's Panjabis have always had a special place in their patrons' closets. Their silk panjabis have become a signature collection, available in single as well as two-toned shades. Choose from a wide range of hues, starting from cornflower blue to purple to maroon and green. The evergreen white panjabis in their collection are in a league of their own, oozing with subtle elegance and style. Neat threadwork and prints add the glam factor to the Eid outfits, making them all the more attractive. Smart fotuas and kurtas are available too, if you want to add variety to your Eid wear.

Elephant Road offers a one-stop shopping experience when it comes to buying traditional kurtas within reasonable prices. Haggling is a mandatory skill if you want to bag the best bargains here. Also worth checking out is Longla, which has branches in Elephant Road and Orchard Point in Dhanmondi. Longla's Eid collections have always been well-received by patrons and provide good value for money. Banglar Mela is also offering some very reasonably priced panjabis this Eid. Screen prints are available with price tags as low as Tk 380. Their tye-dyed kurtas come in animated shades of yellow, burnt sienna, terra cotta and blue. Fotuas range from Tk 250-1100 and are also available in a wide spectrum of bright and subdued colours.

Panjabi has definitely been the outfit of choice for Eid over the years, but recently short kurtas have also gained popularity. Ecstasy has been leading the trend with their offering of trendy short kurtas that are now highly popular among young bloods. Tanjim's designs available in Ecstasy have a very laid-back, casual appeal and his new T-shirt collection is an interesting assortment of diverse prints, wash and cuts. These T-shirts, available in rustic colours, will add the comfort element to Eid hang-outs with friends.

U.A.E Shopping Center in Banani should also be on your list of places to shop. This is the ultimate place to go if you want to lay your hands on imported designer shirts and fabrics to make shirts, pants or suits. Eid may not be appropriate for wearing formal shirts, but don't forget to plan ahead for the wedding season that starts as soon as Eid is over and done with. Also check out Seal for stylish half-sleeved shirts in soothing stripes and checks. Their formal shirts are perfect for day wear as well as night wear and are quite reasonably priced and they also have some smart waistcoats to complement evening party wear. Rang has some nice collarless T-shirts with witty sayings and abstract prints that are comfortable and durable at the same time. Down the road is Occult, a new shop in the block. Check it out for half-sleeved shirts that will go perfectly well with jeans for a casual, sleek look.

Whether it's the traditional panjabi you want or its modern version, or even casual tees and shirts with a sophisticated flavour, there's plenty on offer for men this Eid. Let go of your inhibitions and put aside your stereotypical maxims on masculine fashion; it's time to embrace the colour revolution with open arms and multiply the festivity of Eid!
