Bangladesh embassy's utter negligence in Berlin
I am a non-resident Bangladeshi living in Germany. I would like to draw your attention to the harassment Bangladeshis have to suffer at the Bangladesh embassy in Berlin. The embassy runs in a very unprofessional manner. They show utter negligence in the issuance of machine readable passports (MRP). The embassy receives passport applications via e-mails. But they usually do not acknowledge the e-mails and do not reply to further queries. They just provide an appointment after a few weeks or months (for me, it took 2 months). If an application lacks any document, they never inform the applicant; they simply stop processing the application.
The whole process is extremely time consuming and costly. I applied for the passport on September 15, 2015 and I have not received it yet. My old passport has already expired and I am still unsure what will happen regarding the extension of my residence permit. I have e-mailed the embassy but of no avail. Now I along with my wife and child will have to leave the country.
The process may cost about 1000 Euros for a small family, an amount equivalent to 2 months' savings of an average family. Sometimes people need to travel several times to the embassy and that only adds to the cost. Several attempts have been made to make the embassy aware of the problems; but they simply do not care.
The latest news is that they have stopped processing MRP applications completely for an indefinite time because of technical reasons!
