Kids abducted from Dhaka city rescued in Narsingdi
Police rescued two five-year-old kids from Taroa area in Sadar upazila of Narsingdi district on Sunday, a day after their abduction from Dhaka city.
The victims are Md Tawseef, son of Rafiqul Islam and Minhaz Mian, son of Babul Mian of Khilbaritek area in the capital, reports our Narsingdi correspondent.
Officer in-charge of Sadar Model police station KM Abul Kashem said, when Tawseef and Minhaz were playing beside their residents in Khilbaritek area on Saturday afternoon, Monir Hossain and Mamun, of the area abducted them.
The kidnappers then took the kids to Taroa area in Narsingdi and demanded Tk 12 lakh ransom from their families.
Being informed, police in a drive rescued the two on Sunday night and arrested Shahida, wife of Monir Hossain, and Rahima Begum, sister-in-law of Mamun.
The alleged abductors, however, fled the scene sensing the presence of the law enforcers.
Away in Moulvibazar, local people held a rally and formed a human chain in front of Moulvibazar Press Club in the town yesterday, demanding immediate steps to rescue businessman Mahbub and exemplary punishment to his abductors.
Under the banner Moulvibazar Business Forum, they also brought out a procession and submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner in this regard, reports our correspondent.
Addressing the rally, the leaders of the forum said, abduction, extortion and killing are increasing alarmingly across but local administrations stile remained inactive.
They urged the government to take immediate steps to rescue the abducted businessman and put an end to criminal activities in the district.
Moulvibazar Business Forum president Md Nurul Islam, businessman Sahadat Hossian, and MA Salam, president of the press club, among others, spoke.
Victim Mahbub F Anwar, 45, hails from Hingajia village in the upazila and is owner of Arrow World Travels in the district town.
On December 11, Mahbub was abducted by a gang while he was returning from the town around midnight.
