Jubo League leader stabbed dead in Cox’s Bazar
Unidentified criminals stabbed to death a local leader of Jubo League, youth front of the ruling Awami League, in Chakaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar this afternoon.
Abu Bakar, 28, vice president of Surajpur-Manikpur union of the Jubo League, came under the attack around 5:00pm in Manikpur Station area, reports our Cox’s Bazar correspondent.
A gang of around 10 masked criminals stopped Bakar while returning home from Manikpur Bazar and stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot, said Chakaria upazila chairman Azizul Haque.
Bakar’s elder brother Abul Kashem alleged that the criminals led by local BNP leader Shafiul Alam have killed his brother.
Prabhash Chandra Dhar, officer-in-charge of Chakaria Police Station, said a group of masked criminals killed the Jubo League leader.
The attackers were not identified immediately but police have been carrying out drives to arrest the criminals, he added.
The body has been sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for an autopsy.
