JU suspends 16 BCL men
The authorities of Jahangirnagar University have suspended 16 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League, student wing of ruling Awami League, in connection with Thursday’s clash between two factions of BCL at Maulana Bhasani Hall in the campus.
Nurunnabi, organising secretary of BCL, JU unit and Aninda Borai, general secretary of BCL, Bhasani hall unit, were among the suspended students.
The university authorities took the decision at an emergency meeting of the syndicate on Thursday midnight.
Besides, an inquiry committee headed by Prof Rashed Akther has been formed in the meeting which was asked to submit its report over the incident by seven working days.
Ten BCL activists were injured in a clash between two factions the organisation over establishing supremacy at Maula Bhasani Hall on Thursday. Several lethal weapons were also seized from the dormitory after the clash.
