JS passes SC Judges impeachment bill
Rejecting all the proposals for soliticising public opinions and bringing some changes in the constitutional amendment bill, parliament this evening passed unanimously the bill empowering itself to remove a Supreme Court judge on grounds of misbehavior and incapacity.
The bill was passed in an unprecedented situation as opposition and ruling alliance MPs those who moved the motions did not vote in favour of them and finally voted for the passage of the bill.
Even Raushan Ershad, leader of the opposition, HM Ershad, chief of main opposition Jatiya Party, along with some party deputies voted against their own proposals for publicising the bill soliticising the public opinion on it.
More than 20 MPs belonging to Jatiya Party, main opposition in parliament, two components of ruling AL-led alliance -- Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal and Workers Party, Bangladesh Nationalist Front, AL and independent camp moved the motions.
While speaking on their proposals, they proposed for publicising the bill soliticizing opinion on it and sending the bill to select committees for scrutiny.
But all of them lauded the bill.
