JP wants to take advantage of ‘BNP shortcomings’: Ershad
Jatiya Party wants to be the country’s main opposition political party, capitalising the shortcomings of BNP, party Chairman HM Ershad said today.
Despite announcing an anti-government movement, BNP is now delaying as it has lost the ability to organise the demonstration, Bangla daily the Prothom Alo reports quoting Ershad.
He was talking to journalists at his residence in Rangpur this morning, the report said.
The country’s people now want a change as the government has failed to run the country properly, the JP chief said.
About the recent comments of sacked minister Abdul Latif Siddque on hajj and Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), the former president said the remarks have badly tarnished the image of the ruling Awami League.
Ershad reached Syedpur airport in Nilphamari from Dhaka by a flight this morning. Later, he went to his Rangpur residence, Pallinibas, around 10:00am.
He is scheduled to attend a meeting on health at Rangpur Medical College and Hospital tomorrow.
