Jessore Jubo League man found dead
A ward-level Jubo League leader was found dead with his throat slit in Sadar upazila of Jessore early today.
The deceased, Jakir Hossain, 30, was Jubo League secretary of ward No. 5 of Churamonkati union unit, reports our Jessore correspondent quoting Sub-inspector Shaheenur Rahman, in-charge of Sajiyali police outpost.
Informed by family members around 1:30am, police recovered the body of Hossain from a mango orchard in Khudapara area of Churamonkati village and sent it to Jessore Medical College and Hospital for autopsy, the SI said.
The family members could not trace Hossain since 10:00pm yesterday, the victim's cousin Hafizur Rahman said adding that they found the body around 1:00am after a hectic search.
Hossain had an enmity with Ashiquzzaman Tushar, president of Churamonkati ward Jubo League unit, Rahman said.
Locals however claimed that Hossain was a drug trader and had a conflict with the party men over the business.
Reason behind the killing can be ascertained only after the investigation, the SI Rahman said.
