Interns at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital (SZMCH) today abstained from work for an hour demanding security at their dormitories.
The interns refrained from working since 12:30pm today, expressing solidarity with the students of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College, who have been protesting a theft incident at a female dormitory, said Rezaul Alam Juwel, vice principal of the SZMCH.
Miscreants took away five mobile phone sets, a laptop and Tk 20,000 from the dormitory for the medical students early Friday, reports our Bogra correspondent.
The students yesterday blocked Dhaka-Rangpur highway protesting the theft incident.
Meanwhile, the third and fourth class workers of the hospital also observed a one-hour work abstention at the same time protesting an attack on one of their colleagues last night.
Dulu Mia, 26, who was stabbed by unidentified miscreants last night at the hospital compound, is undergoing treatment at the SZMCH.
