Ireland v Zim

Sylhet joins the party today

Sports Reporter

After the glorious beginnings in Chittagong and Dhaka, Sylhet will kick-start their leg of the T20 World Cup matches with an intense game between the favourites of Group B: Ireland and Zimbabwe.
Following the footsteps of Chittagong and Dhaka, Sylhet too has been lit up and decorated for the mega event; with an additional feature being the beautiful alponas drawn on the streets leading up to the refurbished Sylhet Divisional Stadium.
Both Ireland and Zimbabwe know that their opening match could well decide their fate in this competition and will be looking to make the most of it. While both teams are evenly matched, the pressure is likely to be on Zimbabwe who would want to keep their dominance as a Test nation intact.
They will however, have to work hard for it, especially after their defeat to Hong Kong in the warm-up match. Ireland, on the other hand, will be fresh from their T20 win against the West Indies earlier this year and despite a thumping defeat against the hosts in their warm-up, will keep their chins high ahead of the encounter.
For the Irish, Kevin O'Brien will need to fire. He's a batsman who can single-handedly take the game away from the Zimbabweans.
