Three other industries are— Ambia Dyeing and Knitting Mills, Hakkani Paper and Pulps, and Shah Amanat Dyeing and Knitting.
The eight industries have also been asked not to dump their wastes into agricultural land and canals, petitioner’s counsel Iqbal Kabir Lytton told The Daily Star.
The HC also issued a rule asking the authorities of the government and industries to explain in four weeks as to why hazardous and polluting operation of the industries and their unauthorised and indiscriminate withdrawal of groundwater should not be declared illegal.
The HC bench of Justice Mirza Hussain Haider and Justice Bhabani Prasad Singha came with the order and rule after hearing the writ petition filed by Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association seeking necessary directives.
