HC denies Rana bail

Staff Correspondent

The High Court yesterday rejected a bail petition filed by Sohel Rana in a case filed for violating building code in constructing the nine-storey Rana Plaza, which collapsed on April 24 last year killing at least 1,135 people.
The Anti-Corruption Commission filed the case on June 15 claiming that Rana in league with others accused in the case built the building violating the Bangladesh National Building Code.
Aside from Rana, Savar municipality mayor, Rana's parents and 14 others are accused in the case. Among the accused, only Rana is behind bars.
