Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif today requested the Election Commission to arrange 24-hour security for him during the election period.
He also sought the security as he thought his life might be in danger when he will visit his constituency in the days to come.
"My constituency is infamous for outlaws and BNP-Jamaat cadres may attack me during the campaign," Hanif told The Daily Star.
Hanif made the request in letter to the chief election commissioner.
In response, an Election Commission official told The Daily Star that the commission will forward the letter to the home ministry for taking necessary security measures.
