‘Gunfight’ in Dhaka again, JCD leader killed
In the second successive “gunfight” inside Dhaka for the second day in a row, a leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal was killed in a “shootout” with detectives early today.

In protest, JCD called a 48-hour hartal in Dhaka division and the capital city from Wednesday morning coinciding with a shutdown called by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.
Last night, the alliance declared to enforce the shutdown in Dhaka for 48 hours from 6:00am tomorrow protesting arrest and “oppression” of its leaders.
Detectives of Ramna zone cracked down in Jorapukur field area of Tilpapara upon a tip-off in Khilgaon around 3:15am, said Alauddin, a sub-inspector of Khilgaon Police Station.
“A shootout took place in the area. We received information and recovered the bullet-ridden body of Johnny. He succumbed to his wounds after being rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.”
The SI, who was along with the police force that took the victim to the hospital, said the body had multiple bullet wounds on the chest.
Yesterday, a ward-level Jamaat-e-Islami leader from Narail municipality, Imrul Qayes, was killed in a similar “gunfight” with detectives in Dhaka’s Motijheel area.
