Govt yet to exert full might to clamp violence: Minister
The government is yet to enforce its full might to clamp down on anarchy and violence in the name of blockades and hartals, Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan said today.
“The effort to resist violence did not fail. The government is yet to exert its full strength in this regard. Violence is only reported from 10-12 districts out of the 64,” he said.
The minister was speaking at a press conference in Dhaka Reporters’ Unity organised under banner of Bangladesh Sramik-Karmachari-Peshajibi-Muktijoddha Samannay Parishad.
"There may be some damages or losses if a tornado or storm comes. But it is not permanent. We hope the government and people together will succeed to overcome the ongoing crisis," said Shajahan, also the convener of the organisation.
Shajahan Khan said the organisation will hold a rally at capital’s Suhrawardy Udyan tomorrow in a bid to unite people and resist the prevailing anarchy and chaos in the country.
Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal standing committee member Shirin Akhter and Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Vice Chairman Ismat Qadir Gama, among others, attended the press conference.
