Govt to consider CIP status for top taxpayers: Tofail
The government will consider awarding the status of Commercially Important Person (CIP) to the highest taxpayers, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said today.
The minister came up with the assurance in response to a proposal placed by National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Ghulam Hussain on behalf of the taxpayers, who pay their tax regularly.
The minister was addressing a programme after inaugurating the Tax Fair-2014 at Officers’ Club on Bailey Road in Dhaka.
The weeklong fair will be held at the seven divisional cities and 57 district headquarters.
Taxpayers will be able to pay taxes, file their tax returns and ask for any queries about the process.
This is the fifth time the NBR is holding a tax fair to motivate people to pay taxes.
