Gonojagoron Mancha stages demo against violence
Marking its second anniversary today, Gonojagoron Mancha staged a sit-in at Dhaka’s Shahbagh in protest against the recent spate of violence and terrorism in the country.
Activists gathered before the National Museum this morning with the Bangladesh flag, chanting slogans against the violence that has gripped the nation since the start of this year.
Gonojagoron Mancha will march remonstrating against this issue this afternoon.
On this day in 2013, Gonojagoron Mancha was formed by thousands of protestors at Shahbagh in outcry against the life-in-prison verdict of Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdul Quader Mollah.
The outcry soon spread throughout the country gathering support from everywhere.
In face of massive protests, the relevant war crime law was amended and Quader Mollah was hanged after given death in the apex court.
Since then, Gonojagoron Mancha, has been campaigning for the ban on the politics of Jamaat.
