Gold, mobile phone sets seized at Dhaka airport
Customs Intelligence officials recovered 11 gold bars weighing 1.20 kilograms and 126 iPhone mobile sets at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport this afternoon.
The gold bars and phone sets worth around TK 1.5 crore were imported from Hong Kong.
Being tipped-off, the officials launched a raid at cargo freight around 2:30pm and recovered those from three parcels, said Moinul Khan, director general of customs intelligence.
The gold bars stashed in a video game in one parcel were booked for Run Enterprise at Uttara while two other parcels were sent to the address of one Yeasin at Uttara, he added.
The DG said the officials seized the phone sets as those were not imported as per law. An investigation is going on in this connection.
