Godfathers involved: Ivy
Narayanganj City Corporation Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy today alleged that godfathers in the city were involved in the gruesome seven-murder.
She told this to media after giving her deposition to a probe body formed to investigate the seven-murder case at the Secretariat office of public administration ministry in the capital this noon.
"Everybody of Narayanganj as well as the people of the country knows who these godfathers in Narayanganj are. There is nothing to specificity about it," she said.
While asked about the godfathers, she, however, did not specify about her allegations.
The 12-member probe committee took her deposition at the secretariat office of public administration ministry between 10:45am and 12:20pm.
On April 27, seven people -- NCC panel mayor Nazrul Islam and his four associates and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker and his driver -- were kidnapped separately, but around the same time from the Dhaka-Narayanganj link road.
Six bodies were found floating in the Shitalakkhya river three days later and another the next day.
In line with a High Court order, the government formed the committee headed by Md Shahjahan Ali Mollah, additional secretary of the public administration ministry on May 7.
Ivy further said that government should immediately bring back Nur Hossain, the prime accused in the seven-murder case, from India.
"The key clues -- who were involved with the murders and why they did it -- will come out if Nur is interrogated," she said.
"The people in Narayanganj are still in panic," the city mayor added while reporters asked her about the present situation of the city.
