Youth crushed between two buses
A youth was crushed to death between two buses in the capital's Jatrabari area during the office-hour rush yesterday morning.
His family claimed that his death was the result of reckless driving.
The victim Zillur Rahman, 32, worked at a private organisation. Father of a two-year-old daughter, he lived in Demra area.
Zillur was crossing the road around 8:30am in front of a standstill bus when another bus rushed in from the opposite direction and he was crushed between the two buses, said Al Amin, a shop employee and witness.
The victim was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Passengers were able to stop the bus but its driver managed to flee the scene.
Jatrabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Anisur Rahman said that one of the buses was detained but the driver had fled.
The victim's uncle Golam Mahmud Milon while talking to The Daily Star yesterday demanded exemplary punishment.
