Free wi-fi internet for Secretariat
The government today brought the Bangladesh Secretariat under open wi-fi blanket under its aim to achieve the vision of Digital Bangladesh by 2021.
State minister for ICT Division of Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Junaid Ahmed Palak, launched the wireless internet service today, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
The programme was taken under National ICT Infra network project.
From today, everyone, including the civil servants, journalists and visitors at the Bangladesh Secretariat will enjoy free wi-fi facility, State Minister Palak said.
The government plans to provide fiber-optic backbone network connection to 18,130 government offices by January 30, next year, the junior minister said.
Video conference system facilities will be made at 800 government offices and tabs will be given to 24,960 civil servants to remain in touch even during holidays, he added.
