Fog disrupts flights, ferries
Morning fog caused by the prevailing cold wave through north-west and south-west parts of the country disrupted airways and waterways communication throughout the country today.
Three flights of Novo Airways were delayed by about 30 to 40 minutes to reach Chittagong from Dhaka, Noor-E-Alam, manager of Chittagong’s Shah Amanat International Airport told our local correspondent.
Ferry service on Mawa-Kawrakandi routes resumed after around 10 hours since suspension last nightreports our Munshiganj correspondent quoting Shekhor Chandra Roy, manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC).
Hundreds of vehicles stranded on both sides of the ferry terminals waiting to cross the channel. The ferry service was suspended from around midnight due to fog and it resumed around 10:15am this morning after the fog cleared, the BIWTC official added.
COLD WAVE TO CONTINUE 2 MORE DAYS
The cold wave sweeping through the north-west and south-west parts of the country will continue for more two days, Bangladesh Meteorological Department said.
The cold wave that began from is now prevailing through Rajshahi, Rangpur and Khulna divisions, met official Hafizur Rahman told The Daily Star Online this morning.
“The cold wave might persist for two more days,” he said adding that the overall temperature across the country is likely to increase from Saturday.
Today, the lowest temperature was recorded in Dinajpur at 7.5 degrees Celsius.
