Feni Jubo League leader murdered

A union-level leader of Jubo League was stabbed to death by unknown miscreants in Sonagazi upazila of Feni early today.

Deceased Jasim Uddin, 35, was Jubo League president of ward No. 9 (Adarshagram) of Chardarbesh union in the upazila.

Police picked up six people suspecting their link with the murder, reports our Feni correspondent.

Police and locals said Jasim came under the attack at Adarshagram, 300 metres off the local police investigation centre, when he and some of his aides were returning homes from a wedding party around 1:00am.

Hearing Jasim’s screams, locals rushed to the spot and found him lying in a poll of blood.

Jasim was declared dead when he was taken to Sonagazi Upazila Health Complex.

Confirming the incident, Abu Jafar Md Saleh, officer-in-charge of Sonagazi Police Station, said the body was sent to Feni Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Meanwhile, locals caught one Md Suman, 30, along with a bloodstained dress right after the killing and handed him over to the law enforcers.

Police also detained five other persons from the village in connection with the murder.

Locals claimed that Jasim might have been killed following establishing supremacy in the area.
