Ershad made special envoy to PM
Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad today was appointed as a special envoy to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with the rank and status of a cabinet minister.
The Cabinet Division today issued a gazette notification in this regards.
Replying to a query, Ershad said he will certainly join parliament as he has taken part in the election.
It could not have been better timed.
Ershad became a special envoy to the prime minister sheikh today and he recovered from his curious 'illness' also the same day, making it a day of double fun for him.
Ershad, who was at the centrepiece of a long-drawn drama over his party's flip-flop over joining the one-sided January 5 polls, was whisked away by government intelligence from his Baridhara residence on December 12 to keep him behind a veil of smokescreen.
He has been, since then, at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka for publicly unknown 'illness' and has been enjoying occasional golf-playing, went back straight to home, for the first time in a month, from Bangabhaban's ceremony of Hasina's new government formation.
“I’m quite well. Soon, I’ll get released from the CMH,” he told reporters soon after attending the oath taking ceremony of the new cabinet at Bangabhaban.
Ershad entered his house around 6:45pm from Bangabhaban, said Maj (retd) Khaled Akhter, personal assistant to Ershad.
