UNFPA holds art competition

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Bangladesh organised a children's awareness art competition yesterday to mark the World Population Day 2014 (July 11) that saw participation from some 600 children.
The event was held at the National Art Gallery Plaza of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, focusing on this year's theme “Investing in Young People”. Children from the age of six to 19 participated in four groups in the competition, painting on paper with pencil, crayon, and paintbrush. Biren Sikder, State Minister for Youth and Sports was present as the chief guest while Ms. Argentina, Matavel Piccin,  UNFPA Representative to Bangladesh, chaired the programme.
Biren Sikder, Matavel Piccin and Nur Hossain Talukder, DG, Directorate of Family Planning distributed crests, certificates and prize-bonds among the winners.
