Poetry fair held in Rajshahi

A two-day poetry fair ended in Rajshahi city on Saturday. The fair brought together over 200 Bangla-speaking writers and poets from across the country and the Indian state of West Bengal.
The concluding function was marked by the award of the Kobi-Kunjo Medal 2014 to Poet Wali Kiran for his poems and Dr Toshikul Islam Raja for his literary research. Economist and writer Professor Sanat Kumar Shaha attended the function as the chief guest while Kobikunjo president Professor Ruhul Amin Pramanik chaired the function held at Shah Makhdum College field.
The fair was dedicated to two eminent personalities of Rajshahi – late justice Habibur Rahman, and language movement veteran, journalist Sayeed Uddin Ahmed.
Indian poets Mrinal Basu Chowdhury, Shyamol Kanti Das, Shachin Das and Shukla Das were also awarded honourary crests.
Artistes of Udichi and Rajshahi University's Swanan recited poetry at the function.
Poet Zulfikar Matin inaugurated the fair on Friday where eminent litterateur Hasan Azizul Haque was the chief guest.
