Painting competition for children

Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU) in Trishal organised a painting competition for children at its campus Monday marking the 94th birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children's Day.
The competition, held in three groups, saw a turnout of some 100 students from primary to high school level from Trishal municipal area.
The subjects of the painting competition were-open choice, Liberation War and Bangladesh, Bangabandhu and Bangladesh.
Professor Mohit Ul Alam, vice-chancellor of the university, inaugurated the competition as chief guest.
The prize winners of the competition in the three groups were: Abrar Jahin Saad, Lovan, Sadia Akhtar, Nayeem Azad, Fahmida Rahman, Sheikh Farzana Sowad, Arabi and Mithila Tasnova.
Earlier, a discussion was held, with vice-chancellor of the university as chief guest and Professor Mahbub Hossain, head of Bengali Language and Literature Department and convener of the celebration committee, in the chair.
The speakers said that we must study history to learn about Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and how he emerged as Bangabandhu, the Father of The Nation, who voiced the aspirations of seven crore people by leading the War of Liberation.
The speakers also urged the children to build a future based on the ideals of Bangabandhu.
