Although Kalyan has had his foothold in the small screen with his acting, his focus has turned to the big screen. His first movie “Pita”, based on the Liberation War, earned him acclaim. The talented artiste was also nominated for the Meril-Prothom Alo Awards for the film.
“I felt at ease appearing in 'Pita' as it was a story based on the Liberation War,” Kalyan told The Daily Star.
Later, he appeared in director Khalid Mahmud Mithu's “Jonakir Alo” that was also praised. Bidya Sinha Mim was his co-star in the project.
The actor recently went to Cox's Bazar to shoot a song for his third film, “Prarthona” directed by popular TV actor Sahrier Nazim Joy.
Moushumi Nag and actor-cum-director Joy will be seen working with Kalyan in the movie made under the banner of Impress Telefilm. The love story “Prarthona” will be mainly shot in Dhaka. Kalyan plays the role of a local youth, who falls in love with a girl from another community.
Kalyan hoped that the movie will entertain the audience. He says he wants to appear more frequently in films, besides acting in TV plays.
He is now very busy shooting for Eid TV plays. He recently wrapped up shooting for a comedy, “Bou Shashurir Char Chhakka”, directed by noted film actress Diti that will air this Eid.
Apart from this, he is busy shooting for a number of drama serials.
