Alliance Française de Dhaka organised a book launch at its La Gallerie on April 25, on the only translation book (from French to Bangla) about the Liberation War of Bangladesh.
Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq attended the ceremony as chief guest. Professor Kaiser Haq, Department of English, University of Dhaka and Shishir Battacharjya (translator of the book) were present as guests of honour. Olivier Litvine, director of Alliance Française de Dhaka, welcomed the guests at the event while original writer of the book Bernard-Henri Lévy presided over the event.
Bernard-Henri Lévy is one of France's leading intellectual figures. As a young man, he covered the 1971 Liberation War for French newspaper Combat, founded by Albert Camus, and was shortly associated with the first Bangladeshi administration. He wrote the one and only book in French about the Liberation War: “Les Indes rouges” originally entitled “Bangladesh, Nationalism in the Revolution”.
