Bangla Academy honours luminaries

Bangla Academy recently felicitated poets and writers for their contributions to literary arena. An award and fellowship conferment ceremony was a part of the academy's 36th annual general council. The venue of the programme was the academy premises.
Poets Belal Chowdhury and Kazi Rosy were conferred with awards for their outstanding poetry. Professor Dwijen Sharma and AM Harunur Rashid bagged awards their writings on science.
The recipients of Bangla Academy fellowship for 2013 included Syed Hasan Imam for cultural activities; ATM Shamsul Huda as administrator; Ferdousy Priyobhasini as sculptor; Nasiruddin Yousuff for promotion of the theatre movement; Monayem Sarkar for his research work on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman; Abul Hasnat for cultural movement; Shahdat Hossain Khan for classical music and Fakir Alamgir for mass songs.
Shamsuzzaman Khan, director general of the academy, and Professor emeritus Anisuzzaman, president of the academy handed over the awards and fellowships to the recipients.
