Drive against unfit vehicles from Nov 10
The government will start a countrywide drive against unfit vehicles from November 10.
The mobile courts will take action against the vehicles having no valid documents, Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said today.
He was talking to reporters after emerging from a meeting with the officials of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) at the latter’s office in Elembari area of Dhaka.
The move came seven days into the country’s one of the deadliest road crashes that killed at least 36 people in Natore on October 20.
A five-member body, formed to find out reason behind the accident, on Wednesday revealed that the two buses that collided head-on in Natore did not have fitness certificates.
Reckless driving by the two bus drivers and a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre by one of them caused the tragic road accident, the probe committee found.
