DMCH burn unit restricts visitors
The authorities of the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital today limited visitors to the burn unit to prevent infections in arson victims undergoing treatment there.
“Defying an already existing restriction on visitors, many people are rushing to the unit everyday to see the victims,” said Dr Samanta Lal Sen, adviser of the burn unit.
Considering the sufferings of the burn victims, the authorities today re-imposed the restriction so that visitors cannot rush to the unit, Sen said.
The DMCH came up with the restriction when the unit is struggling to cope with the situation as it is burdened with the arson victims following the ongoing violence during the countrywide nonstop blockade.
The announcement came a day after at least 28 people suffered burns as two petrol bombs attacks inside a bus at the capital's Jatrabari in one of the worst arson attacks on public transport.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Nasim Ahmed visited the victims at the burn unit today, Bangla daily Prothom Alo reports.
During his visit, the health minister termed the prevailing political violence stray incidents and said that the government is taking measures to stop such crimes.
Stern actions are being taken against the anarchists specially bomb attackers, Nasim said.
