'Djokovic the greatest Serbian ever'
Sri Lanka national football team's head coach Nikola Kavazovic is a proud man. He is proud of his Serbian identity, he is proud of his countrymen and he is proud, especially, of the world's number one tennis player, Novak Djokovic.
The 39-year-old Serbian took time off from his footballing thoughts to speak of his admiration for Djokovic during his team's official press conference at the BFF House yesterday.
“I am a proud Serbian and I am proud to be from the land of (Novak) Djokovic. He is untouchable, he is the greatest Serbian ever,” said the Serbian who started coaching at the age of only 21 and has come across a few great footballing minds. “We have great football players like Branislav Ivanovic of Chelsea, Nemanja Vidic of Inter Milan and Lazar Markovic of Liverpool, but no one compares to Djokovic”
Kavazovic also talked about his favourite football coaches, his disapproval of Jose Mourinho and his close association with Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz, but one thing he thing did not mention, perhaps out of modesty, was the fact the he became the youngest ever coach of a national team when he took charge of the Tajikistan national team in 2012.
