Daffodil International University yesterday conferred DLitt (honoris causa) on Dr Achyuta Samanta, founder of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) and KIIT University in India.
Daffodil International University conferred the degree on Samanta on the occasion of the university's 4th convocation held at its Ashulia campus on the outskirts of the capital, said a press release of the university.
Samanta, an internationally acknowledged social worker, was awarded the Jawaharlal Nehru award among many other awards.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid conferred degrees on 3,252 students this year.
Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University M Lutfar Rahman and Chairman of Board of Trustees Sabur Khan, among others, addressed the programme.
