Dhaka-Ctg-Sylhet train link restored
Rail communications on Dhaka-Chittagong and Chittagong-Sylhet routes were restored after a disruption of more than three hours following a train derailment in Sadar Dakshin upazila of Comilla today.
Four wheels of a bogie of Jalalabad Express veered off the tracks at Bijoypur under Laksham Railway Junction around 10:05am, Mohammad Ali, cabin station master (CSM) of the junction, told The Daily Star.
Rail communications of Dhaka with Chittagong, Chandpur and Noakhali, and Chittagong with Sylhet were suspended following the derailment, the CSM said.
The train services resumed around 1:30pm after a relief train rush to the spot and salvaged the derailed bogie, said Noor Mohammad, senior sub-assistant engineer (logo) of the junction.
Dhaka-bound Mohanagar Express from Chittagong, which got stuck at the Laksham junction due to an accident, started for its destination after the resumption of the train services.
The Jalalabad Express was heading towards Chittagong from Sylhet.
