Derailment halts train services thru Bangabandhu bridge
Rail communication of Dhaka with the northern and southwestern districts remains suspended since this morning following a train derailment in Sirajganj.
Three carriages and an engine of a Dhaka-bound Rajshahi Express veered off the tracks near at Bangabandhu Jamuna Eco Park at the west end of Jamuna bridge around 8:30am, police official said.
Train services between Dhaka and northern and southwestern districts remain suspended due to the derailment, reports our Pabna correspondent.
Confirming the derailment, Md Mustafijur Rahman, inspector of Bangabandhu Bridge (West) Police Station, said none was hurt in this incident.
A rescue train from Ishwardi has already started for the spot to rescue the derailed bogies, Mosharraf Hossain, divisional railway manager of Pakshey Division told the correspondent around 11:15am.
