Demo for missing Gazipur councillor
Locals and relatives staged demonstration today demanding immediate rescue of a female ward councillor of Gazipur City Corporation who went missing yesterday morning.
Parvin Akter, 35, councillor of ward No. 1, 2 and 3 (reserved for female councillor), went out of her South Panishail house at about 8:00am yesterday and since then she remains missing, reports our Gazipur correspondent.
Around 10:00am today, locals along with Parvin’s relatives formed a human chain for half an hour, blocking Kaliakoir-Nabinagar road in Jirani Bazar area, said Mizanur Rahman, in-charge of Chakrabarty police outpost under Joydebpur Police Station.
Victim’s husband Minhajul Islam filed a general diary with the police station around 11:45pm.
In his complaint, Minhajul said Parvin went out of the house saying that she was going a village arbitration but she did not mention the place. She did not take het mobile phone with her, the husband said.
Minhajul claimed that one Hazi Dulal, an accused of a murder case filed in connection with the death of Parvin’s father and freedom fighter Chan Miah, had threatened to abduct her about three months back.
Dulal might have abducted Parvin, he said.
