DB to probe NCC councillor killing
The case filed for abduction and killing of Narayanganj City Corporation councillor Nazrul Islam and his aides has been transferred to Detective Branch (DB) of Police.
Mahbubur Rahman, officer-in-charge of DB in Narayanganj, told The Daily Star that the detectives were given the charge today to probe the case.
A day into the abduction of Nazrul, his wife Selina Islam on Monday filed the abduction case with Fatullah Police Station against Nur Hossain, Siddhirganj Thana AL general secretary Hazi Yasin and four others.
The bodies of Nazrul, senior lawyer Chandan Sarkar and five others were found floating in Shitalakkhya river on Wednesday and Thursday, after seven people, including Nazrul, were kidnapped in broad daylight in Narayanganj on April 27.
Law enforcers on Saturday seized a microbus suspected to be used in the abduction and detained at least 10 people raiding the house of Nur Hossain.
Police however failed to arrest neither Nur Hossain nor his family members during the raid.
