Dav surprise
Former Bangladesh cricket coach Dav Whatmore surprised the Tigers when he visited them at their training camp in Mirpur yesterday. The former Bangladesh coach won't be another new addition to the Tigers' growing support staff; he has in fact come here to do some commentary.
The broadcasters for the Bangladesh-Zimbabwe series reckoned that Whatmore could relate to his experience with Bangladesh as coach while on air.
Speaking to reporters at Mirpur yesterday, the Australian said that he was looking forward to the different experience. "I have returned to Dhaka for the series to do some commentary. I have to say I have been looking forward to being reacquainted with so many people," he said.
It was under Whatmore that Bangladesh recorded their first Test win back in 2005 and he has a vivid memory of that day.
"I remember the win [in Chittagong]. It was very good. The one after, when we drew, was even better because we had to bat for a long time -- four and a half sessions -- in the fourth innings to ensure the draw," said Whatmore.
