Curb on food supply to Khaleda’s office continues
Police continued the curb on food supplies to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office in Dhaka for the seventh consecutive day today.
The law enforcers sent back a rickshaw carrying lunch and mineral water bottles from road No. 86 around 2:30pm, Sayrul Kabir Khan, a staff of the BNP chief’s media wing, told The Daily Star.
Police did not allow the three-wheeler to enter the office, a constable seeking anonymity told The Daily Star.
Meanwhile, one Nuruzzaman from Shariatpur, who claimed to be a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver, went to Khaleda's office with dry food today. He was also intercepted by the law enforcers and was returned back, Syrul added.
Earlier in the day, Jubo Mohila League activists brought out a procession under the banner of “Amra Mirpur Basi” and staged demonstration at Gulshan-2 intersection around 12:30pm.
They warned that they would stop the food supply permanently if Khaleda did not withdraw the ongoing hartals and blockades immediately.
Khaleda had been held confined for weeks since January 3. In the early phase of February, power supply to the office, where the BNP chief is currently staying, were disconnected but was restored later.
