Ctg Krishak League leader stabbed dead
A union-level leader of Krishak League was stabbed dead in Hathazari upazila of Chittagong last night.
Deceased Mohammad Wasim, 35, was the general secretary of Fatehpur union unit of Krishak League, a front organisation of the ruling Awami League, reports our Chittagong correspondent.
Locals first spotted the body lying on the rail track at Fatehpur near the Chittagong University and informed police, said Nazrul Islam, a sub-inspector (SI) of Hathazari Police Station.
Police recovered the body which bore several stab injuries around 7:30am, the SI added.
Wasim's family members could not contact him since 10:00pm last night after the victim went out of his house two hours ago, the SI said quoting family members.
“I have heard the news in the morning and could not know the details”, said MA Salam, the general secretary of Chittagong North District unit of Awami League.
Criminals stabbed Wasim dead at any time last night and dumped the body on the rail track, the police official said.
The body was sent to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.
